The second event of 2006 was perhaps the antithesis of the first, a short, simple VFR hop between two neighbouring countries that haven't received the best attention of the fourty that EuroHarmony considers to be European - Sofia, Bulgaria [LBSF] to Skopje, FYRO Macedonia [LWSK]. Participation again was impressive, and despite (or perhaps because) there being almost no ATC, everyone had a great time and got to fly in a relaxed atmosphere; although the weather was terrible! Due to this and that, there's been a big gap between the event and the post-event page being produced, so the expectation is that all pictures and videos from this event are already in the forum (link below the participation list), but if any of you have any futher contributions to make (flight reports, etc.), please forward them to the [ Online Flying Department ]. Further pictures/videos can added to the gallery/screenshot forum and will be linked back from here if you send a reminder to the email address above. Brief precise; everyone was on ground at Sofia by 17:00Z, and following discussions we got into the air by 17:30Z. Routing and cruise altitude was left to participant discretion: myself, I flew via SIN VOR at 6,500ft (visibility was not good, so it seemed the only "real" way other than using the GPS), and half an hour later we began landing with the able assistance of Iain Butler (EHM-1617) who manned Skopje Approach and ensured everyone got a little circuit time and made it down safely (and again, sorry for the "suddenly on approach again" after I had shutdown and secured the aircraft Iain - Murray). |
